Brazilian Jiu-JitsuThe Gentle Art Jiu-Jitsu incorporates a variety of chokes, sweeps, throws, joint locks, and submission techniques. You will develop a solid mastery of the fundamentals that are essential in creating a foundation upon which the more advanced techniques can be built. Fernando Reis offers Gi training in the traditional kimono at the XTC (Xtreme Training Center) in Eagle Rock, CA. You will learn the emphasis on the sport known as "the gentle art," one that relies on moves of leverage and and not on sheer force. You learn to start and follow through on every move safely and with the precise amount of force that will bring an opponent under control so that you can submit him. You are also taught to recognize and honor the “tap out” submission signal so that neither you nor your opponents are ever in danger. You get training in the sudden takedown, locks, chokes and immobilization techniques that are designed to disarm your opponent quickly and safely. You will also develop self-confidence and techniques to concentrate and focus your energy. Every training session helps build the groundwork for your promotion from one belt to the next higher. You will also be given the opportunity to train for and compete in local Jiu-Jitsu competitions against other competitors in your same weight and belt class. This is a great test of the skills you have learned. Fernando Reis is a great coach and instructor who he himself is an accomplished competitive athlete. Jean Jacques Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
