Online Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Lessons

Fernando Reis was born June 12, 1979 in Sao Paulo Brazil. He began practicing Martial Arts at the age of 8 but at the age of 19 Jiu-Jitsu crossed his way. He has been training for almost 10 years and has been instructing for 5 of them. It has been his life long passion.

At the beginning was part of Nilson Liboni Team, under the instruction f Marco Aurelio (China), the second biggest team in Sao Paulo, where he got his blue belt. After that he was part of Sergio Lisboa Team, under the instruction of Juninho, where he got his purple belt.

He moved to Los Angeles, California in March 2005 through a business program at UCLA but once again Jiu-Jitsu crossed his path, a few days later he joined the Jiu-Jitsu program and after only a couple of classes he was invited to become an instructor. As a very experienced purple belt he aided several students quarter after quarter. After one year teaching at UCLA he was invited to by Fabiano Iha, a former MMA fighter to be one of the instructors at XTC Extreme Training Center located in Eagle Rock, California where under his instructor he earned his brown belt. After Fabianos departure, Fernando became fully responsible for the Jiu-Jitsu classes there.

Striving to further his career he joined Jean Jacques Machado Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team, and soon made XTC a official affiliate of J.J. Machado.

He has competed in many tournaments in Brazil and US and accumulated the total of 12 bronze medals, 10 silver and 10 gold.
